The concept of the Homestay is unique in itself. In a Homestay, the hosts stay with the guests and take care of them like their own family. This ensures that the guests have the best taste of a real Coorg experience! At Souland Estates, we have three cottages which we let to our guests. The guests are free to access all common areas, including garden, dining and estates.
Ours is a 50 year old bungalow built in the colonial style with high ceilings, and a scent of the antique, the Homestay is easily accessible by road and is well equipped with ample parking space.
The Courtyard, The Granary, Perch, and The Loft are separate private cottages located within Souland Estates and are situated around the main bungalow.
There is Wi-Fi connectivity in all common areas and round the clock power and water supply. Since we are located in a hilly terrain, we do experience occasional wifi disruptions. If you are looking to work from the property, please carry your own portable Wifi devices. Airtel and Jio 4G networks are available in the area.
The authentic Coorg and South Indian cuisine served at the Homestay is prepared with care with fresh vegetables grown in the vegetable garden on the property, whenever available, under careful supervision, we promise you that it’s not just your taste buds that will leave you asking for more.
Basic Home-cooked Dinner can be arranged on prior request. Lunch is not provided at the Homestay.
Breakfast is usually one item of South Indian or Coorg style dishes. Meals are usually rice, chapatis, dal, one veg/non veg curry and one subzi.
Please remember that Souland Estates is a Homestay and NOT a hotel/resort.
Laundry service is not available.
Please be kind and friendly to other guests who might be staying on the property. Please refrain from playing loud music that might cause disturbance to other guests.
Request for coffee/tea will be entertained between 7 am and 7 pm ONLY.
Linen change is done on the third day only.
Please keep your rooms and surroundings clean.
Please note that your children are our VIP guests and we do not restrict access to any part of the house.The Homestay has a lot of antiques and ancestral items of sentimental value displayed on the property. Please make sure that you or your children do not damage anything.
We do not use separate utensils to cook veg and non-veg food. Specific food requirements and conditions must be conveyed to the hosts well in advance.
Bargaining for discounts and special offers will not be entertained after arrival/ check in.
Due to security concerns, driver accommodation, food, and parking on premises is not allowed. Please make alternate arrangements if traveling with driver/taxi.
The Homestay reserves the right to refuse accommodation to anyone after making a booking, or even after arrival, if found incompatible or uncomfortable.
All disputes may be raised with the booking portal and actions taken accordingly.
All disputes will be subject to Kodagu jurisdiction.
Please do not feed the wildlife. You may see occasional monkeys, giant squirrels, a lot of birds, and in some rare cases, elephants. In such cases, stay calm and enjoy their presence at the estate. Please do not provoke them by shouting or making loud noises. Do remember that we humans are actually in their territory, so when they come rummaging once in a while, please be respectful of them.
Do not venture outside into the estate after 7 pm.
The Homestay management is not responsible for any loss of life or properties or injuries you may sustain during your stay with us.
We try to maintain the highest standards in hosting which includes the smooth functioning of all the amenities. However, since it is a hilly terrain and manpower resources are difficult to arrange on short notice, please bear with us as we try to do our best in case of any amenities malfunctioning during your stay with us.
Check in time is after 2pm until 7 pm. Please try and check in before 7 pm latest.
Please inform the host if you have visitors coming over. Visitors be allowed to enter guest cottages for a maximum duration of ONE hour only.
Cancellation policy: Refund of 50% of the amount until one week up to the the date of arrival.
Please consider the Homestay as your own home. Do not hesitate to ask if you require anything during your stay with us. We will try our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible with our limitations as a Homestay.
Additional rules for The Courtyard
An inverter is also provided at the cottage as power back-up. There is no Air Conditioner in The Courtyard. A ceiling fan is provided for your comfort. Do call the hosts if you have any issues during your stay at the cottage.
Additional rules for The Granary
Smoking in The Granary is strictly prohibited. The entire structure is made up of wood and smoking will be a serious fire hazard.
An inverter is also provided at the cottage as power back-up. There is no Air Conditioner in The Granary. A ceiling fan is provided for your comfort. Do call the hosts if you have any issues during your stay at the Granary.
